About me

My name is Shakeema Welsch - also called “Sky Walker”. My teacher in high school introduced me to track and field during my sophomore year. I started training the high jump, but we discovered that I am more talented in the triple jump. My individual competitiveness took me to start training and competing in long and triple jump.

The most memorable experience was my personal best performance in the long jump at the “Home Depot Invite” on 22 May 2004 and in the same year when I set a PB in triple jump at the USA Olympic Trials. My family and friends are supporting me and my career. They are making me happy and supporting me in what I am doing. I studied marketing and information systems plus statistical analysis at the Penn State University in Philadelphia.

The best advice I obtained was: “Once you progress forward, don’t ever look backwards”. 2008 marks a new era for me. I was able to win my first national indoor title in the Triple Jump. I feel I am right on track to what I am eager to do this year.
